This work explores the use of a co-culture system consisting of mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEFs) and mouse ovarian follicles to allow for the growth of the ovarian follicles. In summary, we found that MEFs secreted factors which caused the follicles to grow larger and survive better in vitro than controls. We suggest that this system may have potential as a system for further study of the factors involved in follicle maturation.
