ABOUT

Hello! And welcome to the professional homepage of Nicholas R Anderson. I hold a PhD in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania after graduating in 2019. I previously graduated from Northwestern University with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering (cum laude).

At Penn, I worked in the laboratory of Prof. Daniel Hammer, where I studied the biophysics of leukocyte adhesion. I focused on the leukocyte adhesion cascade, which is the mechanism that immune cells use to exit the blood stream and enter inflamed tissues. These efforts culminated in using computer simulations to accurate predict the effect of knockdown of kindlin-3, an integrin activating protein.

Currently, I work at Carisma Therapeutics (https://carismatx.com/), where I lead the development of new solid tumor targets. Together with my team, I evaluate new target binders, characterize the CAR macrophages, and work towards an IND filing to continue Carisma’s mission to bring innovative macrophage-based cancer therapies to patients.

In my spare time, I love to try out new recipes (with my friends and family often being the guinea pigs). I also enjoy camping and backpacking, although I have not done much of either recently due to limited free time. My friends and I often play ultimate frisbee in recreational leagues and while I may be not that good at it, I give it my all and improve a little bit every time we play.

Please feel free to contact me directly with any questions you may have about my manuscripts. I can be reached through email at my nickname (nick) followed by an at sign (@) and the domain of my page (nranderson.com). Additional information about education and papers can be found using my ORCID, although I ask you to contact me directly for the ID number. I look forward to hearing from you!
